How old is your metabolism really?

Answer 8 lifestyle questions and find out where your metabolism is really at — and what to focus on first.

How the lifestyle scoring works

Your metabolic age isn’t just about weight — it’s about how 8 lifestyle factors stack up: protein intake, fibre intake, sleep quality, movement, stress recovery, hydration, alcohol, and meal timing. Each factor is scored 0–5 based on what research shows drives metabolic aging in women 35+. Your total score (out of 40) maps to a lifestyle metabolic age band — calibrated against patterns observed in coaching practice since 2017. Prefer hard numbers? Question 1 of 8

How often do you eat protein at every meal?

Protein = meat, fish, eggs, dairy, paneer, dal, tofu, soya. Min ~25g per meal.

Question 2 of 8

How much fibre and veg do you eat daily?

Target = 5+ serves of veg/fruit, plus pulses, oats, sprouts, whole grains.

Question 3 of 8

How is your sleep quality and length?

7–8 hours of unbroken sleep is the metabolic sweet spot.

Question 4 of 8

How much do you move daily?

Includes walking, gym, yoga, strength, sports — anything that gets you moving.

Question 5 of 8

How well do you handle stress and recover from it?

Recovery = nervous system downregulation, not just “managing” stress.

Question 6 of 8

How much water do you drink daily?

Target ~2–2.5L of water (not counting tea, coffee).

Question 7 of 8

How often do you drink alcohol?

Alcohol is a significant metabolic disruptor — particularly for women 35+.

Question 8 of 8

How consistent is your meal timing?

Eating at regular times helps cortisol, insulin and hunger hormones.

    Frequently asked questions

Three quick answers about metabolic age.

This quiz scores your lifestyle — how your habits stack up across 8 metabolic factors. The BMR-based Metabolic Age Calculator uses your actual numbers — age, weight, height, waist — to estimate your metabolic age via the Schofield equation and waist-to-height ratio. Both are useful: the quiz tells you where to focus your effort; the calculator tells you where you actually sit metrically. Most women benefit from doing both.

Yes — significantly, and faster than most people expect. Metabolic age is largely a reflection of muscle mass, insulin sensitivity, sleep quality and stress recovery — all of which are responsive to changes within 6–12 weeks. After coaching since 2017, I’ve watched clients shift their metabolic age 5–10 years in either direction within 3 months. The direction depends on the habits, not the calendar age.

The factor where you scored lowest — and once that’s improved, the next lowest. The quiz prioritises this for you in your personalised plan. As a general rule though: sleep is almost always the highest-leverage starting point. Poor sleep undermines every other factor — protein won’t work, exercise won’t recover, stress will compound, cravings will spike. Fix sleep first whenever it’s a problem, then layer everything else on a properly rested baseline.
